Temptress (Tiramisu Gelato Creami with Rum)

What could be more tempting than Tiramisu Gelato with Rum?   Cheesy Mascarpone goodness, Espresso, Chocolate, Spiced Rum and Lady Finger cookies.

If you feel sexy after enjoying tiramisu, there could be a good reason.  Tiramisu was invented by brothels in the northern Italian town of Treviso, renowned for its relaxed, ‘pleasure-focused’ people who love Tiramisu.

In Italian, tiramisu literally means “pull me up, or, more literally, “pull it up”.  Laced with sugar and alcohol, tiramisu is an energy bomb that not only tempts the taste buds, and lifts the spirit – but can also apparently provide a certain physical excitement- a “19th Century Viagra”

Tiramisu was developed as an aphrodisiac to reinvigorate exhausted clients inside the houses of ill-repute, before, during and after sex sessions to keep customers going and money flowing.

Tiramisu was a standard component of the business.  The more tiramisu swallowed, the more successful the prostitution business became.  Though the brothels of Treviso were outlawed in the 1960’s,  delicious Tiramisu is an enduring legacy.

How does the Ninja Creami work?

The Ninja Creami uses a different method of preparing cool and creamy treats.  The Creami uses technology that was previously only available in an expensive machine called the Pacojet.  The Creami  has an attached blade, which spins as it slowly moves into the frozen block of liquid.  The blade drills into the ice, shaving off pieces and whipping them together until the mixture forms a creamy dessert.

Why is my Creami ice cream crumbly?

Ice cream becomes crumbly for a variety of reasons, including not enough fat content, too much water content, or improper freezing.  Add 1/8 cup of milk, cream, or almond milk to your pint, and put the pint back into your Ninja on the re-spin cycle.  This re-spin cycle can be great friend to you!
The more time your ice cream is in the freezer- the more you will want to freshen it up, and add a small quantity of Almond milk- and re-spin.

Gelato Creami Tips

  • Do not fill the pints past the fill line- you could damage your machine
  • Always freeze Ninja pints level
  • Taste the Gelato mix before freezing to be sure you have the flavor/ sweetness you are looking for
  • Make sure you freeze your ingredients for at least 24 hours
  • If your gelato is a little crumbly, add a slight amount of milk and re-spin
  • Re-spin your Tiramisu Ice Cream with a little milk if you have been storing in the freezer for a while
  • Garnish with Ladyfingers cookies
