Now, a word about the name of this fabulous frozen rose cocktail

Southern women know a thing or two about heat, humidity, and the reality of under-boob sweat. It’s a fact of life. It’s only fitting then, that they came up with this hilarious phrase to describe one of the dire consequences of a hot or tropical climate. In fact, if you know southern women at all, you know that they have a delightful way of manipulating the English language seamlessly, with sweetness & light on one end of the spectrum, and a razor-sharp insult on the other. This often leaves the recipient unsure if they’ve been charmingly complimented or utterly slammed.

Take the phrase, “Well, bless your heart! ,” for example. This seemingly innocent statement can mean everything from, “aren’t you sweet,” to “go f*ck yourself,” depending on the tone, inflection, and the look on the face of the woman delivering it. So it’s not surprising that southern women have their own unique term for boob sweat – probably created to lighten up an otherwise cringe-worthy phrase, and dilute the nastiness of its exact meaning.

With that in mind, I give you Southern Humidititties – a sweet, tart, frozen wine concoction that aims to cool you down while lighting you up.  This easy Frosé recipe is delicious and does its job well, so you won’t feel boob sweat. Or you will, but you really won’t care!

FAQs

on a Frozen Rose (Frosé) Cocktail

What is a Frosé?

A Frosé is frozen Rose.  Bartenders or home mixologists make Frosé, a slushy cocktail that typically contains Rose wine and may contain some other fruit like frozen strawberries,  or fresh strawberries.

These cocktails may also use grapefruit, lemon, watermelon or Pomegranate.  The frozen drink may contain additional kinds of alcohol.

How much time does it take for a Rose cocktail to freeze?

Most Frosé cocktails are blended with ice cubes, and can be served right away.  Some Frosé fans may keep a container of the beverage in the freezer.

Freezing gives the cocktail a thicker consistency.  It won’t freeze completely due to the alcohol content.  Pour into glasses just before serving.

What is the best way to freeze a Frosé cocktail?

Freezing gives a frozen Rose cocktail a thicker slushie consistency.  Freeze at least 20 minutes before serving – Ideally at least 6 hours before serving.

Do not freeze in a bottle.  The wine may expand and break the glass.

What is the best Rose wine for a Frosé cocktail?

Choose a more robust bottle of wine.  The color and flavor of your Rose may get slightly diminished in the freezing process.
