Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on February 14th. The origins of this holiday go back to ancient Rome. There are a few different stories about the origins of this celebrated day. One story claims that the holiday was named after a Christian martyr named Saint Valentine, who was executed in the 3rd century AD. Another tells the story of a pagan festival called Lupercalia, which celebrated fertility and was held in mid-February. Over time, this festival became associated with love and romance. In the Middle Ages, Valentine’s Day became associated with courtly love, and people began exchanging gifts and love notes.

Today, Valentine’s Day is celebrated around the world as a time to express love and affection to partners, family, and friends.

Going back to the Biblical story of the Garden of Eden, it was thought that the ‘Apple’ was the forbidden fruit, but with further study, the translation in Hebrew is “Fruit”.  Since apples do not grow in the middle-east,  there is speculation that the real Forbidden fruit was actually the Pomegranate.  Perfect for our Seductive and Romantic Lover’s Cocktail- like the ‘Heart On’.

Is sparkling wine associated with Valentines day?

Sparkling wine is often associated with special occasions and celebrations, making it a popular choice for Valentine’s Day. The effervescence and pop of a champagne bottle adds to the romantic atmosphere of the holiday. The luxurious feel of the bubbles on the tongue, combined with the crisp and refreshing taste, makes sparkling wine a perfect accompaniment for a romantic dinner or evening out. Additionally, the festive and celebratory nature of Valentine’s Day is perfectly suited to the bubbly nature of sparkling wine. Whether it’s a toast to a new relationship or a celebration of love that has lasted for years, popping open a bottle of sparkling wine on Valentine’s Day is a time-honored tradition for many couples.
